First round Ron Wake Memorial Trophy 2015
The Ron Wake Memorial Trophy is an annual competition run by Harrow Camera club and usually starts in May. Seven clubs are asked to contribute seven prints, each by a different author. There are no scores but the judge gives his comments on each image, and then selects 10 of the best to go forward to the final which is usually held in September.
This year’s first round was judged by John Credland who was very entertaining and his photography knowledge shone though his comments throughout the evening.
Of the seven images that Watford Camera Club put forward, two are going on to the final. “Cat and Mouse” by Michelle Cirkel and “Ghostly” by Richard Wilson. John (the judge) appeared to be convinced that the mouse in the image was specially trained to pose for the picture. Ghostly was described as having an “East European Dark film noir and sinister feeling”. After John made his final 10 selections, he made it clear that the quality of work on show made it a very difficult job for him and I got the feeling he would have liked to choose more, but them is the rules.
Very well done to Michelle and Richard and the very best of luck for the final.
